Hello!

This post details all the research being done about autism and how the game can help combat the negative outlook of the people!

Surveys

The first step taken was posting a question with a survey of the reddit community of r/autism and r/autisticpride! The community on reddit was very supportive and supported the idea of the game!

One survey was made to be filled by autistic children and another one by the parents.

The links can be found here -

Children Results

ree

The survey catered for children got the most responses for the questions asked, which related to the children more. The responses were overwhelming and the people were very interested in the prospect of them being represented in a game very interesting.

ree

This proved to be useful as the children shared a lot of stories as well as gave answers which contributed to gathering statistical information. It also shed light on some hard times that they’ve faced in their life.

Parents

ree

Another survey was made for the parents to answer in, which received far fewer responses, but it was useful too. The questions were specifically for parents in regard to how many kids they have and what is the schedule of their kids.

ree

The questions also pertained to what do the kids do on their days off and what’s a regular day for their kid. It also asked questions about the tantrums the kids have and how the parents deal with it.

Gathering Stories

ree

The members also shared some stories of their own which contributed to the design decisions and stories to be formed out of it. Be it the children or parents, everyone gave their day to day idea and what goes on in their life.

These all proved to be very useful in crafting the story for Canary's Chirp.

The story will be detailed in the next blog post.

Cheers!
